    photo Member Question: Making the Bike Challenging for a Sprint Training Program
    I'm doing the 22 week sprint tri program and the 2 mile bike ride it starts with is not very challenging. I see this as a opportunity to train the right way and challenge myself. Any ideas?

    "I'm new to triathlons and I'm starting from scratch with the training because I tend to overdo things and then set myself back with injuries. I used to be pretty athletic - football, softball, tennis, volleyball and the like. Unfortunately, over the last 3 years, I haven't worked out at all. So my muscle and cardiovascular endurance is very low.

    I'm doing the 22 week sprint tri program and the 2 mile bike ride it starts with is not very challenging. I see this as a opportunity to train the right way and challenge myself. How should I approach the cycling portion of the training? Should I focus at staying within a particular cadence? Should I take it easy and allow the mileage to build up? I've read that speed isn't very important because it averages out in the end. Although the program is 22 weeks, the event I'm targeting will be during week 18. [.....]
